“Whoever slanders his neighbor secretly I will destroy. Whoever has a haughty look and an arrogant heart I will not endure.” -Psalm 101:5

We have all done it… and it’s probably a guarantee that we will all continue doing it.

Gossip is a hot topic of conversation (did you catch the pun?) among Christians because we all know that God has warned us multiple times against slandering others. The problem is, we just can’t help ourselves sometimes. I am even guilty of feeling like it is less harmful if I wait a little while before repeating something.

It takes prayer and a conscious effort to keep ourselves in check, but it is possible to reduce the amount of negativity that comes out of our mouths. God even tells us to turn this negativity into something positive.

“Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” -1 Peter 3:9

Do you strive to be a peacemaker? Do you think it’s possible to completely avoid gossiping altogether?
