Txt Msg TitleIt is crazy to think that text messaging has been around for 21 years. Believe it or not, it has!! The first text message was sent on December 3rd 1992 in the UK from a PC to phone. Can you imagine life without it?

Think back to the days before your text conversation was separated and highlighted in different colors for easy reading. Do you remember when you could not go back in “text history” to see the text you sent that prompted the response you received? A picture ❤ is worth a thousand words and now we can communicate solely through pictures by way of the wonderful emoji text icons. Text messaging has seeped so deeply into our culture that it affects our spoken language. We “text speak” by using text abbreviations like TTYL (talk to ya later) and the infamous LOL (laugh out loud) in daily conversation. SMS has evolved a lot in the past 21 years.  Reuters’ (UK Edition) column, “The Great Debate UK” gives more history on this proud accomplishment here.

SMS helps us communicate quickly so we can move to other tasks life brings our way. Shelby Systems’ Text-To-Give module allows members to text their gift or make a purchase directly from your church with any device that can send and receive text messages.
