Happy Tuesday!

A couple of weeks ago, one of my nieces was baptized at Hope Church, which also happens to be one of our Arena customers. The sermon was led by one of the associate pastors and was one of those that really stuck with me.

The message was focused around the word ‘Enough’. One of the chapters mentioned was Exodus:16, which talks about what God says about obedience and providing us with enough of what we need in life. It starts with Moses and Aaron leading the Israelites into the desert, towards safety, when the Israelites start complaining about a lack of food.

“In the desert, the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out into this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions. On the sixth day they are to prepare what they bring in, and that is to be twice as much as they gather on the other days.”” -Exodus 16:2-5

God had decided to test the Israelites to see who is faithful enough to trust in what he Has given them, and Exodus 16:19-20 goes on to say, ”Then Moses said to them, “No one is to keep any of it until morning.” However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.”

It is often easy to forget how wasteful we can be. God is telling us that we don’t need all of the excess items (and food) that are available to us and that He will provide us with what is necessary. From that, we will be satisfied. The hard part for most of us, however, is accepting this idea.

Do you feel like God has provided you with enough, or do you feel like you need more from Him?
