Today, let’s get to know Shelby’s New West Coast Sales Representative, Jeannetta Douglas, a little better.

Here is her story:
“I was born and raised in Southern California and have 4 younger brothers. Being a part of a large family, there was lots of love, laughter, music and support. I was taught at a very young age the value of having a personal relationship with God. No matter what went on in my family, good or bad, somehow, we would always come together to give God praise. When I think of my family, it reminds me of the night sky, full of stars, some brighter, some small, some closer but all together we can light up the darkest of nights. Growing up in my family, made me feel fearless and able to do the impossible. I’m not saying there were not times I stumbled or failed, but in each of those times, I had my family, cheering me on. My most memorable time with my family was in 2014 when we came together and served over 100 homeless men and women a full breakfast, provided clothes, toiletries and hugs.

My husband Ira and I have been married for 10 years, 4 kids, 1 grandson and a dog name Roxie. Ira has been employed for 29 years as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City of Los Angeles. We love to serve in our community and church, attend sporting events, travel and spend time with family and friends.

What I love most about living in California is the consistent weather and sunshine and the ability to drive from fields to forests to beaches to mountains, all within a few hours. But my favorite place in California that never fails to bring out the kid in me, the happiest place on earth, Disneyland.

I was introduced to Shelby Systems 19 years ago while working in the accounting department at my home Church, Zoe Christian Fellowship of Whittier. I recall sitting in the training session envisioning how this tool (Shelby v.5) was going to allow us to do ministry more effectively. I took it upon myself to learn every function of v.5, not just the part of the program that I worked with. I began to train others and implement the parts of the program that were not being used. After working with Shelby v.5 for 3 years, I had the desire to take my knowledge of the program and help other organizations.

I worked as a Consultant, training for over 15 years with Shelby Systems. What I love most about working with Shelby is that I truly believe that we are providing churches and organizations the tools to help change lives. I see beyond entering data, I see Shelby helping to improve day to day operations so that users can focus on people.

I was recommended for the Sales Consultant position by Stacy Blackstock (another Consultant for Shelby Systems). At first, it was hard for me to see myself leaving the job I loved so much.  But once I realized the only thing that would change about my job was that I would no longer be helping Shelby customers set up and use this great tool, but instead I would now be on the front lines helping a potential customer understand the need for the tool (and providing the knowledge to help them make the best decision for their church or organization), I was all onboard. So basically, it’s the same overall goal, same team, just a different position.

I look forward to being a part of meeting the ministry software needs of the Western United States of America!”
