As children of God, we often hear that we are not of this world. This can be confusing for anyone who is not a Christian, so saying it out loud might sound a little strange. What it means is that we are here to spread the Gospel and to fulfill what God has planned for us. Our lives are just a precursor to where we will be for eternity.

The modern-day concept of Christianity (and maybe not just modern-day) is that all Christians believe they are superior to anyone who doesn’t believe what they believe. To many people, Christians are judgmental and hypocritical. And you know what? That IS true of some Christians. It is not, however, true of what the Bible says about Christianity.

“If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” -John 15:19

Besides the harmful preaching that can come from some people who call themselves Christians, this verse does so much to explain why we are otherwise not always understood and accepted.
